Serengeti National Park

Park overview

Serengeti National Park is widely recognized as Africa's most renowned wildlife reserve, largely because it hosts the continent's greatest concentration of wild animals and the spectacular migration of millions of wildebeest. Many of the world's most striking wildlife documentaries have been filmed within this remarkable landscape. The name "Serengeti" is derived from the Maasai language and translates to "endless plains," an accurate reflection of its vast scenery. Covering nearly 15,000 square kilometers (6,000 square miles), it ranks as the second-largest national park in Tanzania.
