Arrive at Kigali International Airport and be warmly welcomed by your Eve On Safari representative. Transfer to your hotel. A city tour is available for early arrivals. Overnight at Lemigo Hotel (bed & breakfast).
After breakfast, explore Kigali with visits to the Kigali Genocide Museum and the Caplaki Crafts Centre. Then drive south through Rwanda’s Thousand Hills, stopping at Nyanza Royal Palace and the Butare National Museum. Arrive in the evening at Nyungwe Forest Lodge for dinner and overnight (full board).
A full morning of chimpanzee tracking in one of Africa’s oldest and most biodiverse montane rainforests. Nyungwe is home to 13 primate species and over 300 bird species. In the afternoon, choose an optional canopy walk for spectacular treetop views. Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (full board).
After breakfast, drive north to Ruhengeri (Musanze), taking lunch at Kibuye on the shores of Lake Kivu. A long but scenic drive (approx. 8 hours) through Rwanda’s highlands. Arrive at Da Vinci Lodge in the evening (full board).
Ascend the forested slopes of the Virunga volcanoes into Parc des Volcans. The vibrant birdcalls and occasional squabble of golden monkeys accompany you until you find a mountain gorilla family in their natural habitat. Sitting quietly among these gentle giants is a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. In the afternoon, optional Ibyiwatu Cultural Performance or a visit to the twin crater lakes. Overnight at Da Vinci Lodge (full board).
Choose your final morning activity: a second gorilla trek, golden monkey tracking, or a visit to Diane Fossey’s grave and gorilla cemetery. Then drive back to Kigali for transfer to your hotel or international airport.
