Detailed Itinerary - Day by Day:

Day 1 — Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park (Afternoon Chimp Tracking)

Depart Kampala at 7 am and drive west to Kibale Forest NP, arriving before lunch. After lunch, join an afternoon chimpanzee tracking session — guides lead you along forest trails to find habituated chimps squabbling and swinging through the canopy. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Ruwenzori View Guest House (full board).

Day 2 — Kibale to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest (Eastern Sector — Ruhija)

After breakfast drive south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Ruhija sector). Bwindi’s ancient rainforest (321 sq km) shelters more than half the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, alongside 90 mammal species and 23 Albertine Rift endemic birds — including the African Green Broadbill and Bar-Tailed Trogon. Settle in, relax, and rest well before tomorrow’s gorilla trek. Overnight at Ruhija Gorilla Lodge (full board).

Day 3 — Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

The experience of a lifetime. Set off early into the thick, verdant rainforest, guided by experienced rangers who track a habituated gorilla family through the undergrowth. Trek times vary — these are wild animals — but when you finally settle beside a mountain gorilla family, the hour you spend in their presence is something you will carry forever. Optional afternoon activities include a village walk, nature walk to a waterfall, or the Batwa Cultural Trail (payable on site). Overnight at Ruhija Gorilla Lodge (full board).

Day 4 — Bwindi to Kampala
